For a very different type of design book I recommend reading How to Think Like a Great Graphic Designer, by Debbie Millman. One of the things you notice when reading the interviews in the book is that most designers always seemed to have a calling for their career and many iconic designers already showed indications of their future promise at an early age. Some designers look back at their childhood and remember the creative pursuits that lead this career, such as fine art and architecture, these designers may have found these pursuits frustrating in one way or another and were only tempted into graphic design after realizing how beautiful a type face or a layout could be created. For myself the journey into graphic design has been an amazing journey which started from studying art and then evolved into all aspects of graphic design and the more I learn, the more I want to learn, to feed this hunger for beautiful design .
